Running competitions take place over different distances of varying lengths. There are thus several categories of running. The Sprint which requires a lot of speed over a relatively short distance. The Middle Distance is run over 800m to 3,000m and can end with a sprint. Cross-country running which is more of an endurance activity and includes the Marathon. And finally the Ultrafond race which requires traveling long distances and can be measured in terms of length - 100km - or in terms of duration - 24 hours or 6 days.
